Fix Threads Links Redirecting Directly to the App
Problem Summary
Attempting to view or copy a Threads post URL in mobile browsers automatically opens the Threads mobile app instead of letting you copy the link.
Why This Happens
Operating systems implement Universal Links on iOS and App Links on Android. When Safari or Chrome encounters a registered domain pattern, the operating system intercepts navigation and opens the installed mobile application.
How to Resolve It
- In the official Threads app, tap the Paper Airplane / Share icon directly beneath the post rather than opening your browser.
- Tap "Copy Link" from the native share sheet. This copies the canonical web URL directly to your clipboard without browser involvement.
- If browsing in mobile Safari, long-press the link and choose "Copy" instead of tapping it directly.
- Paste the copied link directly into the Threaa URL bar.
